Difference between astronomy, astrology and cosmology ?

Astronomy:

Astronomy is a natural science that studies celestial objects.  This field mainly involves study of motion, luminocity, shape, size, intensity etc... of the celestial objects in the sky. This branch include planets, moon, exoplanets, stars, gakaxies, quasars, supernova and extragalactic objects.

It is classified into many branches as

  •  Astrophysics : It applies the laws of physics and chemistry to explain the birth, life and death of stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae and other objects in the universe.

  •  Astrobiology : is an interdisciplinary scientific field concerned with the origins, early evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. This field is mainly involved in the presence of extraterrestial alien life.

  • Astrochemistry : It is the study of the abundance and reactions of molecules in the Universe, and their interaction with radiation.

  •  Astrosociology :  It examines the relationship between outer space and society. Sociologists, other social scientists, and humanists have failed to recognize the impact of space on daily social life – a relationship that requires attention and serious scientific analysis.
  • Astrometry: Mapping celestial bodies
  • Astrogeology: Examining rocks, terrain and material in space
